SceneCatcher is a location-based photo challenge game. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used. We collect only what is necessary to run the game.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for any purpose beyond operating SceneCatcher.
Account information
When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile
picture from Google. This is used to create your in-game profile.
Location data
The app accesses your GPS location while in use. Location is used for two
purposes: sorting nearby challenges in the list, and verifying that you are
physically present at a challenge location when you attempt to solve it.
We do not track your location in the background.
Photos you take
When creating a challenge, the reference photo you take is uploaded and stored
so other players can see it. When solving a challenge, the photo you take is
sent to our AI verification service to check similarity against the reference —
it is not stored permanently after verification is complete.
Gameplay data
We store the challenges you create, the challenges you complete, your XP,
level, daily streak, and any ratings or badges you earn. This data is what
makes the game work.
The following information is visible to other players of the game:
Your email address is never shown to other users.
Your account and all associated data (profile, challenges, completions) are retained for as long as your account is active. If you would like your data deleted, contact us at the address below and we will remove it within 30 days.
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account data.
By submitting a photo to SceneCatcher — whether as a challenge reference photo or a solve submission — you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to store, display, and distribute that photo within the app and its related services. You retain ownership of your photos.
You are solely responsible for the content you submit. You must not upload photos that are illegal, offensive, infringe third-party copyrights, or depict individuals without their consent. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms without notice.
SceneCatcher is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular feature will remain available. Use of the app is at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SceneCatcher and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the app, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SceneCatcher and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising out of your use of the app, your submitted content, or your violation of these terms.
SceneCatcher is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If we make significant changes to this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
